Paula V. Álvarez is an architect based in Seville (Spain), founder of Vibok Works editorial practice. Her work brings together research, editing and writing from an experimental perspective. Her research interests include the transformation of the organizational and discursive logic of social spaces with globalization and the development of new technologies; and the intertwining and convergence, in this context, of design and epistemological techniques developed in different spatial disciplines. She teaches Editorial Communication at the School of Architecture in the Polytechnic University of Madrid and is currently working in her PhD on “Editing as Cognitive and Operative tool for Architecture at the turn of the 21 century”.
Awarded with several prizes and grants, Alvarez's work has been exhibited in international events like the Istambul Design Biennial; in art centers like the MAXXI Museum (Roma), the Ars Santa Mónica (Barcelona) and the Andalussian Contemporary Art Center (Seville); and in cities like Madrid, Málaga, Guimarães, Ciudad de Guatemala and Medellín. She regularly contributes with essays in specialized publications on Art and Architecture (such as Volume, Think Space Panphlets, Ábaco or Pasajes de Arquitectura y Crítica), and collaborates in research, cultural and educational projects developed by architectural institutions like Arquia Foundation or Mies van der Rohe Foundation.
